My chosen song, is 'The Wombats - Walking Disasters' the genre of this song would be alternative/ indie quite heavy in terms of the lyrics. It's also a narrative song, as it tells a story. The length of the song is your average 3-4 minute. This song in particular is the length of '4:19' The target audience for this song would be fans of the music genre 'alternative/ indie' because of this it is usually aimed towards teenagers to young adults. The message/ meaning behind the song is basically about a young female who is completely consumed by consumption (In this case we can assume that the 'consumption' is actually drugs and alcohol) we can assume this by the lyrics "Now she's always wasted" 'wasted' which is a term for being drunk. The pace of the song is a mixture of both fast and slow; it ranges from this pace due to the song being an actual description of this females, life the pace of the song could determine the ups and downs throughout her life however throughout the song the singer in a way is giving his personal input. What it is that he would do, if he was in the girls situation.
In terms of what the song has made me feel emotionally, it's made me question my own life which is what I will be aiming to enforce through my actual music video. That the female who will portray the girl within the lyrics will sort of be questioning her life choices and where she is now. Overall I believe that this particular songs hits home for a variety of people especially teens. This being because they're at this stage in their life where they begin to rebel and go against their parents, in the attempts to 'find themselves' but along the way they usually begin to loose themselves. This song in a way is the anthem for those who completely loose themselves and need a reminder of reality, hence the mention of parents.
"I'd tell my mother that I love her dearly and tell my father that I need him back again and if these words wont drop from your lips. I will be your freudian slip." Freudian - reference to someones 'superego'
