The product is an album by the band 'Kodaline' their new album "In a Perfect World" this is what is being promoted/ advertised. Within the advert, what happens are a series of cutaways and fades. It begins with the voice over stating "This, is Kodaline"after stating this the bands name is shown amongst a blue sky with clouds; which has been edited as a mirror look. Which allows the clouds to morph into each other which gives the advert a dream state. Within the first 0:05 seconds we see both the name of the band and the lead singer, by 0:03 a cutaway is used so we can see him which is then shortly faded into white and back to the mirrored clouds which again has the next line "With their epic Debut album" in which as the voice over states this 'Debut Album' is written amongst the clouds. Mentioning three of their most popular songs 'Includes, love like this, high hopes and all I want.' as each song is mentioned the music bed changes, to match the named song. The advert begins with the music bed of 'Love like this' to introduce the band, it is understandable as it was their first single of the album. Which is then faded into their other track 'High Hopes' whereby we see the text written within the clouds 'Debut Album' with another shot of the lead singer, which is then faded into another mirrored cloud shot with reviews of the album from one radio station and another newspaper. From this, we are then shown a 3 second shot of the band as a whole performing live; by manipulating the light they edit the light to form a blinding white blank which then fades into the bands Album Cover. The advert then finishes with a conclusion of the voice over stating 'Kodaline, in a perfect world. Out now'
In terms of similarities and differences within T.V and Radio advertising there are many but I believe that there are more distinctive similarities rather than differences. If anything, the big difference between both Radio and T.V is that with the voice over there is also imagery. If you were to take this T.V advert and only use it's sound, then it could easily pass as a radio advertisement. This being because within the script it mentions it's core facts and information about the product which is the album. It has the bands name, then throughout mentions the name of songs where within editing three music beds. In terms of it's chosen target audience, it seems as though it is basically promoting the album informing fans of the band that their new album is now released yet also introducing the band within the advert to a larger fan base. Allowing, the audience to be educated of the band and their music. Giving, them clips of each song so they can distinguish within the advert which song is which. The way in which they have done this is through their script that it is plain and simple, yet informative. Not only has it been done through the script, by mentioning the name of the band and the albums name but they have also added reviews from as mentioned before one newspaper and a radio station. Thus allowing, the audience to be manipulated into listening to them due to the reviews not only being good but being described in a manner whereby it would make anyone want to listen to a preview.
In terms of the reasoning for radio and T.V adverts being similar or different is because they both aim to advertise for two different mediums. As mentioned before, if you were to advertise for T.V then within your advert you could have a simple music bed with imagery explaining your advertisement. In a way allowing the audience to pay attention and actually want to know more about the product however in terms of a radio advertisement, it is basically either a single voice-over or multiple with a variety of music beds or none. Ensuring, that the audience pays attention and listens. Either way, when watching a T.V advert it is not necessary for you as the consumer to listen to the advertisement as you could guess the concept by watching it/ what is being advertised. Whereas for radio you need to listen to the actual advert because it is the only way in which you as the consumer will be able to hear what is being advertised. Not only this, but within the script, many writers base their script around creating an image or even scenery within your head. For example, with the radio advert below we can imagine within our head the scenery. The concept for this advert, is that it's based around horror and I think within a Haunted house. It allows the audience to create this imagery within their head and allow them to interpret the script being said in their own way.
